Tigriopus californicus Copepods
Tigriopus copepods are one of the hardiest and most nutritious live foods you can add to a marine system. Packed with essential fatty acids and natural pigments, they provide excellent nutrition for fish, corals, and invertebrates. Their jerky swimming style makes them highly enticing to finicky eaters and ideal for boosting feeding response in aquariums.
Because of their large size, Tigriopus are more prone to being consumed quickly by predators or removed through mechanical filtration. They often do best when established in refugiums or nutrient-rich sumps, where they can reproduce and maintain a sustainable population. For very clean display aquariums, we recommend considering smaller species such as Tisbe or Oithona copepods, which are better suited to those conditions.
