Halimeda incrassata (also known as Money Plant, Three-Finger Leaf Algae, or Thickened Halimeda)
A striking calcareous macroalga with flattened, segmented “coin”-like fronds and a bulbous holdfast that anchors into sandy or mixed substrate. It prefers moderate-to-bright light and gentle water movement, and helps stabilise sand beds while adding natural structure to reef aquariums. With its heavily calcified plates, it resists most herbivores and contributes to calcium and alkalinity demands.†
Care Level: Moderate – needs stable calcium / alkalinity, decent lighting, and substrate depth.
Uses: Natural habitat structure, calcium export, aesthetic for reef/lagoon tanks.
