F/2 Guillard's Phytoplankton Fertilizer 8oz-Concentrate

Guillard's F/2 Phytoplankton Nutrient Concentrate | Grow Healthy, High-Density Marine Phytoplankton

Quick Instructions

1. Prepare sterile saltwater at the appropriate salinity for your chosen phytoplankton species.

2. Add Guillard's F/2 Nutrient Concentrate at the recommended dosage.

3. Introduce your starter phytoplankton culture.

4. Provide strong illumination.

5. Maintain constant aeration.

6. Allow the culture to reach peak density before harvesting.

7. Retain part of the culture as the inoculum for your next batch.

Following clean culture techniques helps minimise contamination and maximises long-term success.

The Industry Standard for Culturing Marine Phytoplankton

Produce healthier, denser and more productive phytoplankton cultures with Guillard's F/2 Nutrient Concentrate from Little Creatures Zooplankton & Aquaculture.

Developed from one of the world's most widely recognised microalgae culture media, Guillard's F/2 has become the gold standard for marine phytoplankton production in aquaculture, marine research laboratories and advanced reef aquarium systems. Its carefully balanced blend of nitrogen, phosphorus, trace elements and essential vitamins provides everything marine microalgae require for rapid cell division, efficient photosynthesis and consistent culture growth.

Whether you're growing Nannochloropsis, Tetraselmis, Tisochrysis (Isochrysis), Pavlova, Chaetoceros or other marine phytoplankton species, Guillard's F/2 delivers reliable and repeatable results when combined with proper lighting, aeration and sterile culture practices.

Why Choose Guillard's F/2?

Not all algae fertilisers are created equal.

Guillard's F/2 has been trusted by commercial hatcheries, universities and aquaculture facilities worldwide for decades because it provides a complete nutritional profile specifically formulated for marine microalgae.

Every dose supplies the essential macronutrients and micronutrients required to support:

• Rapid cell division

• Healthy chlorophyll production

• Efficient photosynthesis

• Strong culture stability

• Improved biomass production

• Rich natural pigmentation

• Consistent high-density phytoplankton cultures

When cultures receive balanced nutrition rather than simply nitrogen and phosphorus alone, they remain healthier, more productive and less prone to nutrient deficiencies that can slow growth or cause culture crashes.

Complete Nutrition for Stronger Cultures

Healthy phytoplankton require far more than just fertiliser.

Guillard's F/2 provides a balanced supply of essential nutrients that support every stage of algal growth.

The nutrient blend promotes:

• Healthy DNA replication during cell division

• Efficient nutrient uptake

• Chlorophyll synthesis

• Strong photosynthetic activity

• Stable cellular metabolism

• Dense biomass accumulation

• Vibrant green, golden or brown pigmentation depending on species

The result is healthier cultures capable of producing greater cell densities while maintaining excellent nutritional value for marine livestock.

Culture Tips

For best results:

• Sterilise bottles and equipment before every culture.

• Use quality RO/DI water.

• Maintain stable temperatures.

• Provide continuous gentle aeration.

• Avoid cross-contamination between cultures.

• Harvest before cultures begin to decline.

• Start fresh cultures regularly.

• Store nutrient concentrate correctly between uses.

Healthy cultures always begin with clean equipment and balanced nutrition.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Guillard's F/2?

Guillard's F/2 is the world's most widely used nutrient medium for culturing marine phytoplankton. It provides essential nutrients, trace elements and vitamins required for healthy algal growth.

Which phytoplankton can I grow?

Guillard's F/2 is suitable for many marine species including Nannochloropsis, Tetraselmis, Tisochrysis, Pavlova, Chaetoceros, Phaeodactylum and many others.

Is it suitable for reef aquariums?

Yes. Guillard's F/2 is used to culture phytoplankton that can then be harvested and fed to reef aquariums. It is intended for growing phytoplankton, not for direct dosing into display aquariums.

Why do phytoplankton cultures crash?

The most common causes include contamination, poor sterilisation, insufficient light, inadequate aeration, incorrect temperature, expired nutrient concentrate or harvesting too late.

How should I store Guillard's F/2?

Store in a cool, dark location with the lid tightly sealed. Avoid excessive heat and direct sunlight.
